Lone Wolf Tree Stand Accessory Strap Review

Does anyone else have problems with the accesory tree hooks for hanging gear on? I do. To me, they take up time, and harm the tree. This past Summer I came across a product from Lone Wolf called the tree stand accessory strap. I’ve seen others on the market like it, and I’m sure some folks drum up something of their own that serves the same purpose. Anywho – I thought I’d let it be known this is a great product, and serves its purpose well.

The Product

The product is basically a nylon strap that adjusts to the size of any tree you’ll be sitting in. It has a few hooks that you can hang your grunt calls, rattling antlers, range finders on, as well as a bigger hook that can handle your pack, or bow. I personally am not a huge fan of screwing in things to trees, and then leaving them. But the fact I attach this strap to the tree both quickly and silently is a big deal. I have no idea how many minutes I’ve wasted trying to attach my EZ hook to trees in the dark, but it is a lot. That frustration is finally gone!

The product is made of plastic, but it is pretty damn strong. I personally don’t see the plastic being a hindrance, because it’s tough, and doesn’t make any noise when I bang it on something – unlike a metal hook.

Land Management in PA – QDM Success Story

Today’s blog is pretty special. John Mack, owner of HuntingPA.com, and is an outdoor freak like the rest of us – but more then that – a land steward. John’s been improving his 54 acres in PA for the last few years, and his family has been bearing the fruits of his labor. Theodore Roosevelt said “Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.” This quote will really ring home after you read John’s story!

Like many I cut my teeth deer hunting from a traditional deer camp nestled in hollows of  the state forests of north-central Pennsylvania, a mere rookie sitting against an eighty year old oak, looking thru a wide open wooded forest of other 80 year old oaks waiting for the driven deer to pass, and pass they did.  I saw absolutely nothing wrong with the picture, it was a fantastic time to be a young hunter as waits were usually short and action was going on all around. SafeTreeHunt Interview – Jim Jacques

Today’s blog interview is pretty sweet (like that rest of them). Jim Jacques is the founder of Safetreehunt.com, an online site that creates awareness about using fall restraint devices when hunting from a tree stand. Jim educates folks be providing them information on how to make their own tree stand safeline, or hunter safety strap that connects to a hunter safety vest. He also sells the hunter safety straps and safelines himself, for those folks that do not care to make them. Once I found out about Jim and the things he is doing – I had to inform others about it. It’s just too cool.
